For Me, From Me :)

I ordered this yesterday:
It's scheduled to arrive Friday! I'm super stoked about it! It's an unopened package too, which is a CRAZY rare find, since this particular decoration is from the 80's :) Check out my other post about it here .

Night of the Jack O's

Rubbed the lids with cinnamon and cloves and lit them up.  Happy porch :)

Clean up day

Today was the dreaded clean up day. I picked up everything in the yard, except the fence, crypt, full size toe pincher and entryway.  I left them for the hubby to take care of.

It's always a real drag to pick it all up and put it all away. So, I listened to my Halloween playlist while I worked to lift my spirits ;)  'Night on Bald Mountain' is one of the songs that came on and I thought about how it seems to sum up the season.

The music starts soft, just as the holiday season creeps slowly upon us, little bits of Halloween merchandise in the stores, decorations trickling out of the attic.  Then the music builds, just as the season builds.  More decorations are out, Halloween specials on TV, candy in the stores and the weather starts turning cool.  The high point in the music is Halloween night, hectic and fun, fueled with sugar and the excitement of costumed revelers wandering the streets; there's an electric feel to the air. Finally, the music winds down, just as the season abruptly does, the decorations are picked up, empty candy wrappers tumble down the street in the wind, and there's almost no evidence of the fun that was had the night before.

Give it a listen and let me know what you think ;)

Hope you all had a great Halloween =)

Halloween Reboot

Ran full effects in the yard tonight, since I wasn't able to get pictures last night.  Got a couple of good shots :)  Here are a few of my favorites.  Hope you enjoy!

Halloween Storms

This was the first year that it has rained on Halloween since we've been doing the yard haunt.  We had literally just finished putting the final touches on the yard, when the skies opened up and dumped a couple of hours of heavy rain on us.

We scrambled to bring in all of the paper mache pieces, foggers, sound system.

But, the Trick r' Treaters came :)  They came in droves in the rain.  Soaked to the bone, some with umbrellas, some without, some driving from house to house, jumping out of their cars, all in the name of Halloween and all with smiles on their faces.

Even though our yard wasn't up to it's full potential, we enjoyed many compliments from our visitors. Adults and children alike voiced their love of the yard and dried my spirits :)

We gave out two cauldron's full of candy and once the rain got to be too much, we enjoyed the company of many of our neighbors, friends and family, inside.

It wasn't the Halloween that I expected, but it was a lot of fun.  I felt very warm and fuzzy to have such a great group of people around us, celebrating my favorite day :)

Unfortunately,  the rain made photographing the yard very difficult. So, I only have a few blurry shots to share for now.

However, we decided, for the first time ever, to run full effects in the yard again tonight. :)  This way, people who want to come back and see it in dryer conditions can, we can enjoy it to it's fullest potential, and we can get the pictures that I cherish every year ;)

I hope that everyone had a safe and fun Halloween, no matter what your weather conditions were :)

More Camera Play

Thanks to WicKED, over at Something WicKED this Way Comes, I have learned that using the 2 second delay on my camera, when taking shots of the cemetery at night, is very beneficial :)

Thanks WicKED!!!

The blue is INTENSE right now, but once everything is set up, we'll have some different colored lights in there, as well as candles and tiki torches, which totally change the lighting :)

Countdown...

Only 16 days left ;)

Decided to test out taking pictures with my tripod.  Happy with the results.  Less shaky pictures.  More practice shots to come.

Need some great ones for this year's home haunters video.  Always have to stay one step ahead!

Happy Haunting!!!
