6 Months Later...

It's just sitting at the edge of the woods where I plopped it along with about 5 other jack o' lanterns 6 months ago. I cannot believe how tough the skin is, considering the weather conditions that it's been through. I think it's looking at me... CREEPY!!!

The Most Sincere Pumpkin Patch...

Built by the best husband ever =) He always seems to go along with my craziest of plans =) That's just one of the reasons that he's awesome ;)
I think there are 24 plants in all. Just keeping my fingers and toes and maybe even my eyes crossed that I get a couple of pumpkins out of this =)

Drying...

I'm going to try my hand at selling some of these little fellas. Just trying to decide on what avenue to use as a shop.

Pumpkins Take Two

Last year, I tried my had at growing pumpkins for the first time. I started in July... which all of you pumpkin growers out there know is a really late start. I only got one pumpkin that didn't get eaten by pest, but I was successful in getting at least 4 to begin growing.
This year, I'm wiser (don't let the pretty black and orange butterflies hang out in the garden) and I kind of know what to expect. My biggest concern is the pests. Vine borers and cucumber beetles got to my plants last year and I had a big problems keeping those suckers under control. I'll be doing research soon and I have plans for building a screen of sorts around my garden to help prevent them from coming in.
I have three different varities this year: traditional giant orange pumpkins, green and white. Should be fun =)
